Horizon was established in the year 1990 and since then it has been one of the leading higher education institution in the northern emirates. Horizon 40-acre campus is located in the University City of Sharjah, which is easily accessible from all emirates in the UAE. 

HUC offers programs in Business and Information Technology through its School of Business & School of Information Technology which are fully-approved and accredited by the Ministry of Education (MOE), UAE.

In order to internationalize the programs, HUC is in the process of acquiring AACSB and ABET accreditation for equalizing the programs to the international standards so that students can benefit from mobility opportunities between local and international universities. HUC has achieved an overall 4 star QS star rating with a 5 star QS rating on Teaching and 4 Star on Academic Development. HUC is actively pursuing benchmarking activities with Universities under EUMMAS (European Marketing and Management Association).

HUC offers Undergraduate programs in Business and Information Technology under the School of Business; Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Tourism and Hospitality Management, International Business, Marketing & Retail Management, Accounting and Finance, Public Administration, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Human Resource Management and Psychology. Under its School of Information Technology, it offers Bachelor of Science in Information Technology – Enterprise Computing program.

If all the documents are complete and the fee has been deposited as per the fee structure, it normally takes a minimum of 3 to 4 weeks for the security clearance and visa processing.

An applicant seeking admission for Undergraduate program is required to fulfill the following conditions:

BBA ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

An applicant seeking admission for BBA program is required to fulfill the following conditions:

High school (anyone of the below):

• 12th grade results from a Ministry of Education/KHDA approved school in UAE (Equivalent to 70% - 75% of UAE Board)
• A combination of Seven subjects with 5 “O Level” with grade A to E (11^th Standard),2 “AS Level” or 1 “A Level” with grades A to D (12^th Standard)
• Pakistani Board (55%)
• Indian Board (50%)
• American Diploma with 12 years of Schooling (minimum 5 courses in grade 10,11,12^th, 60% marks)

English Proficiency Requirement (any one of the below):

• A minimum score of 500 out of 677 on Institutional Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a minimum score of 61 out of 120 on the Internet Based Test (IBT) of TOEFL or a minimum score of 173 on the Computer based TOEFL
• A minimum score of 5.0 on International English Language Testing System (IELTS - Academic)
• A minimum score of 1100 in EMSAT English Achieve (Emirates Standardized Test)

Arabic Language Proficiency Requirement (any one of the below):

• A minimum score of 600 in EmSAT Arabic Language Test

• An international student can register for non-credited Basic Arabic Language course at the institution

Mathematical Ability (any one of the below):

• A minimum score of 600 in EmSAT Mathematics Test
• A minimum score of 600 in SAT

PERSONAL INTERVIEW

Prospective student is required to pass the personal interview set by the institution.

BSIT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 Secondary School Qualifications Obtained Outside UAE:

1. Must meet the requirements for admission into university in the country of origin
2. Attestation: Education Authority (Home Country); Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Home Country); UAE Embassy, MOE (UAE) + Evidence of completion of Secondary School Stage, Equivalency from MOE 

Semester fee payment in cash or through debit/credit card  or Postdated  cheque(s)                   ( excluding the first installment ) or even direct debit  option with linking of debit/credit card  along with one security Postdated cheque amount of the full semester fee to be submitted  at  the  time  of  admission and even by the continuing students for the semester Re-Registration process to be completed by the student or the guardian. The security cheque will be returned at the end of each semester once the semester monthly fee installments are paid in full. 

 Students who do not require HUC visa can pay the fee on installment basis as per the payment mode & terms mentioned above.  International students have to pay the fee semester wise and students seeking visa letter from HUC have to pay the yearly fee in 3 installments – 1st installment is cash and remaining 2 are through Post Dated Cheques.

Any increase of fee depends on the strategic plan/finance department and prior information will be published officially regarding the same on website and student portal.     t to the administration.

HUC accepts students who are transferring from a federal or licensed institution in the UAE or a foreign institution of higher learning based outside the UAE and accredited in its home country, are eligible for transfer admission subject to equivalency certificate from MOE, UAE. The student must attend a minimum of 50% (60 credit hours) of their study plan at HUC in other words, maximum of 20 courses can be offered as transfer of credits to the Undergraduate programs whereas for Graduate program a maximum of 12 credits or 4 courses which is 25% courses can be offered as transfer of credits. The credit hours completed must be equivalent or higher to the corresponding courses offered at HUC.     

The transfer of credit process takes 2-3 working days once the below mentioned documents are completed and application is completed:
-The official transcripts -Detailed syllabi (Credit Value, Level, detailed course content, learning outcomes/objective and indicative learning resources) -An official letter from the previous institution -All documents mentioned in the admission requirements (High School certificates/Bachelor Degree) -Processing fee of AED 525/- inclusive VAT (non-refundable & subject to change) must be paid for evaluation at time of application.

HUC has three intakes in a year i.e; Summer, Spring & Fall. ( June/July, September & January)  

Horizon has over 15,000 Alumni from than 65 different nationalities providing cultural interaction to enhance understanding from different perspectives. Faculty members also are of different nationalities from UK, US, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Morocco, Jordan, Palestine and other GCC countries.

Classes are held between 9:10 AM - 2:00 PM Monday to Thursday (morning classes) or 6:40 PM - 10:00 PM (evening classes) from Monday to Friday.

Yes, a meritorious scholarship to the students in the First year of the University is also provided.

Yes, transfer students are also included in scholarship; however, the scholarship cannot exceed 15% and the students have to meet all the admission requirements.  

HUC offers Foundation in English, Math’s & Arabic classes for the students who are unable to meet the entrance placement requirements of any of the mentioned subjects.

If the student is meeting the high school requirements as per the admission criteria but is not meeting the placement test requirement for either English, Math’s and or Arabic for seeking conditional admission for Fall 2022 intake, Student will be registered for one or more foundation course(s)/subject(s) that correspond to the missing EMSAT score(s) along with courses of the Main program. Student must fulfill the EMSAT requirements within a period of one semester for the Fall 2022 semester to be eligible for continuing in the main program.

1. The foundation course will carry zero (0) credit and it will not be calculated in the CGPA of the main program.
2. Student must achieve the required EMSAT score(s) before the end of the conditional admission period - Fall 2022 semester.
3. In case, the student does not achieve the required score(s) in EMSAT within the conditional admission period, HUC may consider the ‘B’ grade and above in the Foundation courses that the student has appeared for admission in the main program in lieu of the required EMSAT score(s).

For Master’s degree HUC offers a MQP course (MBA Qualifying Program) and GRC program (Graduate Remedial courses) for students not meeting the minimum CGPA requirement and after successful completion of the same, the student can join the Master’s degree.    

Yes, student can postpone for one semester in an Academic year as per the policy, postponement charges as per the published fee structure will be applicable. If a student postpones from one semester to another falling in subsequent academic year, the postponement fees and tuition fees as per the new academic year will be applicable. International student cannot postponement after commencement of the classes.

Yes, the admission requirements are the same as of any International student. However, HUC will not be sponsoring the spouse or children. Only student visa will be applied for candidate seeking studies with Horizon.

Yes, International driving License is Valid in UAE. However, students need to apply for UAE driving license once their residence visa is stamped. HUC will be issuing an NOC letter to the students so they can apply for UAE driving license.

Student’s need to have a valid passport, valid UAE visa and an NOC from Horizon.

HUC has a canteen on campus where students can order meals during day time till late evening/night until 10:30 pm. There are many food outlets nearby the hostel providing take away facility and the telephone numbers are readily available.

Girl’s hostel facility is approx. 20 minutes’ drive from Horizon and transportation is provided at an additional cost. We are planning to have girl’s hostel facility within campus by next year.

Yes, friends can visit during day time between 10am -6pm.

HUC has a hostel in-charge and an additional HUC employee stays in the hostel to take care of the hostel students. Round the clock security is maintained.

The University provides bus facility for shopping to city Centre 3 times in a week. There are many grocery stores nearby the university providing free delivery services.

The hostel fee is charged on a half yearly basis, subject to minimum of one academic year.

Yes, hostel has indoor and outdoor sports facility like cricket field, football ground, basketball court, table tennis and well equipped gym.

Minimum of 75% attendance per course has to be maintained to be eligible to sit in the final exams.

The student has to submit his duty roster from his work place, the same must be signed by HR department. Request may be submitted to the administration department for an exemption, the application will be reviewed by the Head of Academic Support services and it is subject to approval only on case to case basis.

HUC has taken all necessary safety measure to ensure health & safety of not only of its employees, students, parents but all other stake holders.  There is a temperature check at the main entrance of the campus for all visitors, campus is equipped with thermal cameras, hand sanitizers and even an isolation room in case of any emergency. The entire campus is disinfected and sterilized on regular basis.
