Introduction

At Horizon University College (HUC), the Media and Communication Department (MCD) oversees all online and offline media activities and ensures consistent, effective communication with target audiences. The department is dedicated to enhancing the university’s image and strengthening brand awareness at the national, regional, and international levels.

 

MCD plays a pivotal role in conveying the university’s message to both internal and external stakeholders. The department encompasses five core functions: Content Management, Design Management, Website, FAQ, and Portal Management, SMO and SEO, and Video and Online Campaign Management.

 

The department is responsible for maintaining a positive and credible image of HUC across all media platforms. It provides timely updates on the university’s activities, events, and achievements; manages media relations and public communications; develops and maintains the university’s main webpages; and ensures consistent and appropriate use of the university’s brand identity across all online, offline, and social media channels.

Goals

1. To represent Horizon with a positive image in all channels locally and internationally. 

2. To create contents as required by the concerned department and circulate these contents internally and externally. 

3. To create positive branding image offline and online

4. To plan and manage the Digital and Online Marketing for HUC

5. To monitor and report articles posted on the Knowledge updates section

6. Maintain media relations with print and online.

Facilities and Services Provided

The Media and Communication Department (MCD) provides comprehensive support to all departments of Horizon University College (HUC) for university-wide events, initiatives, and activities. This includes assistance with artwork design, content creation, social media updates, video production, and press coordination.

 

All requests for MCD services must be submitted through the official MCD Requisition Form/ticket on Zoho, at least a week prior to the event or activity. Requests are prioritized based on the university’s calendar and the timeliness of submission.

 

Content Development & Media Relations

MCD manages the creation and dissemination of content across multiple channels to strengthen the university’s visibility and engagement.

 

Key functions include:

  • Developing press releases for major university events and activities (local and international).
  • Creating social media content for weekly internal and external activities.
  • Updating website content for the News and Events section.
  • Designing advertising content for newspapers, magazines, emailers, and newsletters.
  • Reviewing and editing university publications and website page content.
  • Maintaining a content management calendar for academic and non-academic updates.
  • Reviewing and developing organizational policies and university copyright materials.
  • Producing and managing E-newsletter content for internal and external audiences.
  • Tracking and adapting to emerging media and communication trends.

    • Virtual Tours
    • Hold Messages

 

Design, Website, Portal, FAQs, and Mobile App

The MCD oversees the university’s design and digital presentation across all platforms, ensuring consistency and quality.
 Responsibilities include:

  • Designing artworks and collaterals for local and international events and activities.
  • Producing flyers, brochures, banners, posters, stands, and advertisements for internal and external use.
  • Designing and developing E-newsletters, Monthly Knowledge Updates, and Weekly Industry Updates.
  • Managing website design, structure, and regular updates.
  • Maintaining and updating the University Portal and FAQs section.
  • Designing and structuring university publications.
  • Developing and updating the university mobile app, including its user interface (UI) and content.

 

Video and Online Design Management

The department is responsible for all video production and online visual campaigns that enhance HUC’s digital presence.
 Services include:

  • Producing videos for departmental and international office requests.
  • Creating video content for both paid and organic online posts.
  • Designing animated videos to boost brand awareness and generate leads.
  • Developing online visuals for digital campaigns.
  • Covering and producing videos for university-organized events.

 

Digital Management

(SEO, SMO, Knowledge Updates, Website Listing & Ranking, Online Chat)

MCD ensures the university maintains a strong and effective digital presence through:

  • Managing university content postings across all social media platforms.
  • Enhancing website visibility through Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
  • Strengthening social media presence via Social Media Optimization (SMO).
  • Publishing fortnightly and monthly Knowledge Updates.
    Maintaining a database of website listings and monitoring ranking improvements.
  • Managing the Live Chat (Admin) feature for online engagement.
  • Collaborating with Quantum Agency for digital marketing and online visibility support.
  • Planning and executing both paid and organic online campaigns.
